One of LATA's key roles is to promote travel to Latin America and knowledge of the region.

Annual LATA Press Award

Awarded annually in March to the writer who produces the best article on Latin America published during the preceding 12 months. Members are invited to put forward articles to be considered for the award by the panel of judges from LATA, and authors may submit one article each themselves. The award is presented at the annual LATA press evening.

Details

The LATA Travel Writer of the Year prize is awarded to the writer who, in the opinion of the judges, has written the most inspiring travel article on one of the LATA regions represented in the Guide. The article must have been published in the UK media in the preceding 12 months. The judges will consider accuracy and style, as well as a positive approach to Latin America, as part of the judging criteria. Nominations are welcome from writers themselves (one per writer), from LATA members and from travel editors (again, one per writer). Submissions should be in Word, pdf or text format and must include fact box credits as they appear in the publication. They can be emailed to awards@lata.org.
