We derive our name from yacu amu – a serpent-like water spirit of local folklore. Water is a common theme in our travel experiences, whether it is marveling in awe of a glacier on the Equator, bartering at a market in the lake district, challenging the rapids on a jungle river, feeling the power of thunderous waterfalls, soaking in volcanically-heated hot springs, or sailing through the Galapagos Islands.
Yacu Amu Experiences was the first tour operator in Ecuador to be Rainforest Alliance verified (June 2010), is licensed by the Ecuadorian Ministry of Tourism and is also a member of the Ecuadorian Tour Operators Association (OPTUR) and the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA).
