About the Falkland Islands Tourist Board The Falkland Islands are an Overseas Territory of Great Britain and situated in the South Atlantic Ocean, approximately 280 miles north-east of Tierra del Fuego. The total population is 3,000 people, with 2,500 people living in Stanley - the capital of the Falklands and the only town in the archipelago. Falkland Islanders are a friendly, hospitable, and welcoming people. The Falkland Islands are one of the last untouched wildlife wonders of the World. Unspoilt beaches, islands and cliffs provide a natural safe-haven for hundreds of species that have made the Falklands their home. www.falklandislands.com The Falkland Islands Tourist Board (FITB) The Falkland Islands Tourist Board was established as a Company Limited by Guarantee in 2003 to further the development of the tourist industry. Tourism has grown rapidly over the last 15 years and is now the Falklands second largest industry with the following key figures: Overall, visitor arrivals by inbound overnight tourists, cruise passengers and domestic tourists are expected to total 64,000, spending £6.85 million. The Board represents the interests of private sector tourism operators and Government. The main annual budget is provided by the Falkland Islands Government. FITB’s membership base and sales in the Visitor Information Centre also brings in additional income. The FITB office is located in Stanley. At present the team includes the Sales and Marketing Manager (New position, yet to be filled), Marketing Coordinator, Operations Manager, Project Manager (New position, yet to be filled) and three casual Information Assistants. A National Tourism Strategy Working Group, made up of representatives of the Government, Tourist Board and private sectors, was established in mid-2010 with a primary objective to implement a medium to long term strategy for the whole of the tourism industry, and look at policy and infrastructure issues and development for the benefit of the industry. What's on offer 24 to 36 month contract, excellent basic salary, gratuity, relocation grant, start, middle and end flights, use of company vehicle, housing allowance and advantageous tax regime and the chance to work in a beautiful and unspoilt landscape.
